FAQ:
Is therapy right for me?
Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing psychological issues, or problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life such as a divorce or work transition. Many seek the advice of a therapist as they pursue their own personal exploration and growth. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of life challenges. Therapy can help address many types of issues including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress management, body-image issues, and general life transitions. Therapy is right for anyone who is interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards change in their lives. My particular type of therapy is suitable for anyone searching to expand their personal sense of how our spiritual natures impact our daily lives.
What can I expect in a therapy session?
Every therapy session is unique and caters to each individual and their specific goals. During therapy sessions it is standard to talk about the primary issues and concerns in your life. It is common to schedule a series of weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly sessions, where each session lasts 50 minutes. Sometimes individuals who are going through a particularly difficult challenge may request more time per session or more than one session per week. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue or longer-term, addressing more complex issues or ongoing personal growth. There may be times when you are asked to take certain actions outside of the therapy sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track certain behaviors. Between sessions it is important process what has been discussed and integrate it into your life. For therapy to be most effective you must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions.
How does your therapy practice differ from others?
Although I am trained as a traditional psychotherapist and do offer conventional psychotherapy services, a hallmark of my therapy practice is the unique psycho-educational system I have created called Rx for the Soul™. Rx for the Soul™, is a hybrid of traditional psychotherapeutic techniques, quantum field philosophies, and direct experience. This form of 'soul coaching' allows my clients to begin to see how interactive our thoughts and experience are. With this technique, you begin to experience what a truly interactive universe we live in. As our horizons begin to expand through the use of education, insight, and direct experience, a new world begins to emerge before us. Rx for the Soul™, is particularly effective for those who are wanting to find a source of meaning in very difficult life experiences. Often the small patterns of our life mirror the bigger issues that we grapple with, and when we begin to find truth in the small messengers that life brings, we can often begin to make real progress forward in the bigger issues that may have eluded us previously. The interactive nature of the universe has always been apparent in my world. This can be evidenced in the story of the stone Madonna. I believe that we all live in an interactive universe, and Rx for the Soul ™ is my technique for helping you to have your own direct experience of this.
Can you explain more about the groups seminars called ‘Reaching the Other Side: A Path to Healing Grief’?
This is a specific type of grief and bereavement therapy that I offer through group seminars. In this work I combine Continuing Bonds grief therapy modalities with education on the afterlife sciences and after death communication. Many times, as the grieving learn more about the vast amount of research and evidence that exists to support the notion of survival following physical death, they begin to experience an increased sense of interaction with their deceased loved one. Often in the course of our work together I will receive credible information for my clients from their deceased loved ones. This third party based type of evidential communication can be extremely healing to the bereaved. This information typically arrives in a way that provides evidential value to the bereaved that their loved one indeed continues on. I do not make these messages my goal in our work together, but they often seem to be a natural outcome of a sincere and earnest desire to both heal grief and understand death and what comes next.
What if I am interested in this work but I am not a ‘group person’?
This same information and experience can be imparted to you in a series of private individual sessions. This is a slower, and less cost effective way to receive the same service, but many people still prefer this because they find that their grief necessitates a more private and slow paced experience. The important thing to remember is that there is no wrong way to move forward…
I live out of your service area and I am worried that a phone session will offer me diminished results.
This is a common question and one based on what seems like common sense. In reality, what will produce a good outcome between us is our rapport. Good rapport happens when we connect at the level of the intellect and heart. This connection happens at the quantum and electromagnetic level that science has proven works outside of the bounds of time and space. Whether we are in the same room, or across the country from one another, if we have established a positive rapport, we can expect this to result in the same experience you would have if we were in the same room. I know this to be true, based on the many testimonials I have received from clients around the world who have been deeply impacted by our work together even though we were physically sometimes thousands of miles apart.
